The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators (AONN+) Announces New Leadership Council Members

Cranbury, NJ – Each year, the AONN+ Leadership Council strives to bring novel ideas and perspectives to the table through the addition of new members. This practice ensures the sustainability of the council while allowing it to evolve with the current and future vision of navigation.

AONN+ is pleased to announce that it recently added 3 new members to its Leadership Council.

“Each individual has been highly praised by fellow AONN+ Leadership Council members and have valuable navigation knowledge as well as a network of resources that will enrich the work of AONN+,” says AONN+ Program Director Sharon Gentry, MSN, RN, HON-ONN-CG, AOCN, CBCN. “I ask that everyone join us in welcoming them to this new role.”

AONN+’s newest Leadership Council members include the following:

Andrea Dwyer

Andrea (Andi) Dwyer, Director of the Colorado Cancer Screening Program (CCSP) at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and The Colorado School of Public Health, brings to the council a strong talent for oncology navigation training, outreach and screening success, and navigation sustainability as a concept. She serves as the co-chair of the AONN+ Community Outreach, Prevention, & Early Detection Committee and co-chair of the National Navigation Roundtable Steering Committee, and has presented at numerous AONN+ events and conferences.

Mark Liu

Mark Liu, MHA, is Senior Director of Oncology Strategy, Transformation and Analytics for the oncology service line at the Mount Sinai Health System. Mark has gifts in long-term strategy, collaboration on critical projects in clinical quality, alternative payment models, new technologies, and process improvement. He has also presented at AONN+ conferences on payment models and is a voice for navigation metrics in his presentations. He is a lifetime Fellow of the Association of Community Cancer Centers and is the 2023-2025 Editor-in-Chief of their official journal, Oncology Issues.

Leigh M. Boehmer

As the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Executive Director for the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), Leigh M. Boehmer, PharmD, BCOP, is responsible for assessing educational needs and designing interventions for multidisciplinary cancer care teams. He also serves as a liaison with patient advocacy organizations, policy experts, and governmental agencies to advance the objectives of ACCC. He has worked in both in- and outpatient medical oncology settings, spanning large academic to rural community oncology environments. His current areas of concentration include building capacity for community oncology research and mitigating cancer care disparities.
