The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) held its Spring Member Organization Meeting in May. This meeting empowers oncology professionals and member organizations to shape the future of cancer care through updates from the CoC committees. Discussions and breakout groups at the meeting provide a collaborative forum to evaluate standards, discuss quality measures, and align on national oncology initiatives. AONN+ Advisor Sharon Gentry, MSN, RN, HON-ONN-CC, AOCN attended as a representative of AONN+.
CoC Chair Laurie J. Kirstein, MD, FACS, opened the meeting with a discussion of CoC program updates, including the rural participation option, tobacco cessation standard, Pediatric Accreditation and the Current State of Navigation Survey.
We encourage each reader to complete the brief anonymous 4-question survey.
About the Survey
The CoC survey aims to understand the current state of navigation programs. Results will be used for potential program development and shared with AONN+ so that we can better understand the perspectives of navigators, identify emerging trends, and inform future educational and strategic initiatives that benefit the oncology navigation community. We plan to follow up with our membership in articles and communication with survey outcomes.
AONN+ values opportunities to collaborate on initiatives that help advance knowledge, improve practice, and support professionals working across oncology navigation and patient care.
