Whether to check a wound post-op, address serious side effects, or simply to touch base during various phases of their treatment, many oncology patients receive home healthcare visits from nurses. The nurses conducting these home visits often leave each appointment with much more information about their patient than we’re able to gather in clinic or at an inpatient bedside. While nurse navigators do their best to gather as much information as possible about our patients (both clinically and personally), we can and should tap into the knowledge gathered by home healthcare nurses.
