Local Navigation Network Leaders Meeting
Tuesday, March 25, 2025
6:00PM EST
Thank you to everyone that attended the meeting. There were over 40 LNN Leaders present!
Sharon started with a hello and Candice Roth, AONN+ Executive Director said hello to the leaders and voiced appreciation of all their work in the LNN realm.
A Current map of the LNNs was shared with a welcome to our newest – Coachella Valley Oncology Nurse Navigators ( CVONN) in California and Upper Midwest NaviGators. Annie Fornoff, RN, BSN, MS, Oncology Nurse Navigator Manager at UW Carbone Cancer Center Mountain shared how the Upper Midwest produced their Gator name.
Each LNN Leader received a code to attend the Midyear Conference virtually. Sharon explained this had a twofold purpose. One as appreciation for your professional commitment to oncology navigation education and two – you get a year’s membership on your registration confirmation. LNN Leaders must be members of AONN+! Remember, the recordings will be available for a year after the conference! Normally, there is the second quarterly LNN leader during Midyear, so stay tuned for future details.
In preparation for the in-person/virtual Annual, the group was reminded that the abstract window will open soon and suggestions for presentation need to be submitted quickly as the planning committee will start as soon as Midyear is completed.
Sharon reviewed reminders of LNN Leader interest
1) Every leader should have a copy of the LNN orientation booklet – The World of AONN+ Local Navigation Network Leadership. Please let me know if you do not have this information.
2) LNN Forum site – this is for LNN leaders only to post information or ask questions among this group. The access list was updated in February for current leaders. You must be signed into the AONN+ website to access. The email that you use to receive LNN leader communication is the email for you to use as access. If you need another email added for your name, please let me know.
3) The Members Memo column that pertains to LNN news/resources is published just once a month in the Navigation & Survivorship News (

) National Breast Cancer Foundation Virtual Navigator Network will be featured in March 2025! If you have news you would like to see in the column, please send my way! This publication goes out the last Friday of each month.
Candice shared a grant opportunity for oncology navigators through AONN+ and Gilead collaboration. She encouraged individuals, LNNs, teams and others to apply.
The AONN+ internal team wants to highlight the splendid work of committees. Mary Visceglia, Clinical Trial Committee Chair along with committee members, Pam Profusek and Gayla Hall, gave a great overview of their work as well as upcoming plans to develop a certificate program and course. (LNN leaders). Mary encouraged LNN Leaders to share their info and reach out to her if there is an interest in joining. This group has published articles in JONS using a 5-part series on Clinical Trial Catalyst. This group offered to speak at a LNN meetings if needed.

Survey ideas were shared with some getting a good response and others not.
NBCF reduced networkwide meetings and added subgroup meetings (maybe 5 – 7 participants)
Hybrid lunch – Lunch and learn If it is virtual, Pam Profusek said to contact her for letter language on getting support for this idea as well as vendor fair, etc.… - “feel free to reach out for request for pharma letters: Pam Profusek profusp@gmail.com”
Clara has spoken for LNNs - claral@tailormed.co – “I am happy to speak about financial toxicity & financial navigation”
Cheryl Kirby created a LinkedIn member group for the LNN and does monthly newsletter! She highlights a navigator or program. Excellent rural outreach!

Sharon reminded the group that when you hear a speaker at conference, you may wish for them to come and talk to your group. Just ask and if you have Teams, Zoom or some other platform, you may be able to bring them in and have them talk and interact with members. It could be AONN+ committee leaders or Board of Trustees.
