Leadership Live Town Hall-Style Q&A

Attendees of the 10th Annual Navigation & Survivorship Conference, as well as oncology navigators who could not make it to Nashville, had a chance to engage with members of the AONN+ Leadership Council during Leadership Live: AONN+ Town Hall. Led by newly minted Program Director Sharon Gentry, and co-hosted by Program Director, Emerita, Lillie D. Shockney, and Chief Nursing Officer & Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Initiatives, Danelle Johnston, the event was broadcast worldwide via Facebook.

Seated in the audience were other members of AONN+ leadership, including the co-chairs of the organization’s national committees, who answered questions from onsite and virtual attendees.

“We found it helpful in the last few years to have something called a ‘town hall.’ So now is your time. We want to hear your voice. Your voice has taken us over the last 10 years, and that’s exactly how we’ve grown. We listened to what you’ve said, what you’ve told us what you need to learn and we put that together. We’re looking to the vision for the next 10 years…,” said Ms Gentry.

Ms Gentry started by inviting the audience to join committees that are currently accepting applications, and briefly discussed some of the projects that AONN+ has launched and is currently involved with.

Veering from the format of past AONN+ town halls where leadership saved the Q&A portion until the end, this year’s meeting was interactive all the way through. Mixing trivia questions where live audience members had a chance to win prizes and responding to questions from both onsite and virtual attendees, this town hall-style event was the most engaging yet.
