AONN+ Foundation for Learning

The AONN+ Foundation for Learning is happy to announce a testing opportunity at the upcoming AONN+ Annual Conference in Dallas. On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, we will be offering the chance to take our ONN-CG and OPN-CG exams. Our certifications are targeted specifically toward the skill set of oncology navigators. They ensure that clinical nurse and patient navigators have the knowledge to competently demonstrate effective navigation services across the cancer care continuum within their scope of practice. The deadline to submit your application is October 1, 2026, by 11:59 pm, so don't delay!

AONN+ Certification Scope: The purpose of the Oncology Nurse Navigator-Certified Generalist (ONN-CG) and the Oncology Patient Navigator-Certified Generalist (OPN-CG) certifications is to ensure that clinical nurse and patient navigators have the knowledge to competently demonstrate effective navigation services across the cancer care continuum within their scope of practice.

Reasonable accommodations for testing shall be provided at no cost to candidates with special medical needs covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act who submit the Special Accommodations Request Form, along with the Documentation of Disability-Related Needs. AONN+ may submit information regarding the stated disability and requested accommodation to its own expert advisers and reserves the right to provide only those reasonable accommodations as required by law. Thank you for your interest in AONN+ Foundation for Learning certification! Please find general FAQ’s to help guide your certification journey.

  • The certification will be held on November 11th from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm on site at the AONN+ Annual Conference.
  • You can find recommended study materials here: Oncology Nurse Navigator certification and Oncology Patient Navigator
  • The exam time allotment is 3 hours, however, should you finish early you can be dismissed.
  • You will receive your exam results 6 weeks from the date you took the exam.
  • The exam is administered via paper and pencil.
  • You will receive an email from AONN+ FFL upon review of your certification application, if approved to sit for the exam.
  • One week prior to the exam, you will receive a confirmation email with final certification details.
  • Registration closes on October 1, 2026, please note there is no on-site registration to sit for the exam.

About the Scholarship Program

The AONN+ scholarship program provides scholarships for navigators, social workers, physicians, and administrators to attend the AONN+ Annual Conference. Scholarships may assist with travel, hotel, registration or internet access. Eligibility is based on financial need and navigation involvement. We encourage applications from all geographic locations and experience levels. Once a scholarship has been granted, the applicant must wait 5 years to reapply for support again.

Generous donations from AONN+ members have helped attendees participate in both Midyear and Annual Conferences who would not have otherwise had the means to do so. We invite you to help champion inclusivity within navigation by donating to the AONN+ sponsorship. 100% of your donation to the AONN+ Conference Scholarship fund will help fund travel, hotel, and registration.
