The Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators’ (AONN+) Policy and Advocacy Committee kicked off 2023 by supporting two Cancer Leadership Council letters. The first was related to the Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters (NBPP) for 2024, and the second focused on the Essential Health Benefits (EHB) in the Affordable Care Act.
Specifically, the NBPP addresses:
- Network adequacy
- Prohibition of midyear terminations for dependent children who turn 26
- Special enrollment periods
- Standardized plan options
- Drugs classified as “non-essential” health benefits
The EHB in the Affordable Care Act addresses:
- Benefit descriptions in EHB-benchmark plan documents
- Typical employer plans
- A review of EHB
- Coverage of prescription drugs as EHB
