Local Navigator Networks

Description: We have initiated the Virtual Midwest AONN+ Network for Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and to others interested in joining. This network enables us to interact and support each other across the Midwest. Our goal is to build regional collaborations among navigators who serve patients in rural communities and to share resources, education, and knowledge to help communities meet the needs of their patients and support team while reducing barriers to care.

Mission: The mission of the Virtual Midwest Regional Navigator Network is to provide an open forum for navigators focused on excellence of care shared educational opportunities, knowledge, networking, collaboration, advocacy, and outreach and extend the national AONN+ mission.

Vision: The vision of the Virtual Midwest Navigator Network of AONN+ is to build regional collaborations among navigators who serve patients in rural communities, to share resources, education, and knowledge to help communities meet the needs of their patients and support team while reducing barriers to care.  

Objectives:

  • To support navigators as they strive to improve patient care outcomes
  • To provide peer mentoring and networking opportunities by sharing best practices with navigators across the 4 states
  • To support development of professional expertise and enhance quality of patient care
  • To improve communication and collaboration between patients and oncology navigators
  • To provide support for navigators through education and professional development with continuing education opportunities, collaboration with community professionals, organizations and industries for the advancement of the navigation profession and for the improvement of patient care
