Cancer care is ever-evolving and dynamic, and cancer doesn’t discriminate. It affects people of every gender, race, and socioeconomic status. In order to provide optimal care to all patients with cancer, we as oncology navigators must be able to understand and speak for every patient’s needs. At AONN+, we are 1 association representing many voices. We aim to provide resources to oncology care professionals, so they are adequately equipped to cater to every person with cancer.

“As a social worker, I appreciate that AONN+ takes a multidisciplinary approach to care. Our patients never interact with one discipline, so it’s important that when we are learning and connecting–we are doing this across disciplines. I love the opportunity to learn from my nursing colleagues and it always creates opportunities for rich collaboration.” — Jennifer Bires, MSW, LICSW, OSW-C, Executive Director of Life with Cancer and Patient Experience at Inova Schar Cancer Institute
“As an oncology nurse navigator, I love AONN+ as an organization because it equips me with the information I need to provide the best evidenced-based care for my patients and their families. AONN+ has made me feel really connected to my navigator colleagues during COVID-19 through virtual conferences. I was also able to stay up-to-date on information that helped my patients during COVID-19 through the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS), CONQUER™ magazine, and the Navigate Now: How Can We Help? Facebook live series. I am also an active participant in the private Facebook group, and I appreciate how my colleagues reach out to each other to strengthen their own practice and share ideas and experiences. AONN+ has fostered my desire to share my practice through poster submissions and blog posts. AONN+ has been integral in elevating my oncology nurse navigator career and I am proud to be a certified ONN-CG certified through AONN+ FFL. I am grateful for my AONN+ membership and I encourage all oncology navigators to join.” — Kammi Fox-Kay, MSN, RN, AOCNS, ONN-CG(T)
“I continue to speak about how I love AONN+ because it is one of the best tools and resources out there that illustrate to me how to best support and remove barriers for my navigation team. AONN+ has assisted me in understanding the correct process, barriers, frustrations, and opportunities my team brings to me. Beyond understanding, AONN+ also provides me the tools on how to build solutions and connect them to like-minded roles within the AONN+ community. My first year in my role, I had the pleasure of attending AONN+ in Dallas, Texas. It encouraged me so much and helped to validate a great deal of questions, ideas, and thoughts I had. Navigation is still very new and there are so many models out there. You can often feel very isolated and alone in the navigation profession in healthcare. However, AONN+ has helped me build a network around the country and world of other navigators and leaders in navigation to confirm ideas, learn from, and form relationships with that have helped me tremendously. This is why I love AONN+!” — Zilipah Cruz, RN-MSN, Director for Corporate Navigation at Ballad Health Cancer Care
AONN+ members span across the globe, from the United States, to Afghanistan, to Brazil, to Africa, and more. Because our members come from all parts of the world, we are truly keyed into different perspectives of care.
“The atmosphere at AONN+ is warm and welcoming. There is no form of segregation. As a professional, I am free to be me without any fear of "what if I am wrong". AONN+ is a community where you find great mentors who will not talk down or look down on you, but rather will patiently guide you, even when it's not convenient for them. AONN+ is a place where you find great mentors who will guide and walk with you until you find your feet. Although I am miles away, I don't feel far from the AONN+ community because of the synergy, togetherness, and support the community gives just to help you excel at what you do as a professional.” — Olayinka Odumosu, BSc, MSW, MBA, Certified Nurse Navigator at Amorvard Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria
The upcoming 2021 AONN+ Midyear Virtual Conference, being held May 13-16, 2021, will have chat boxes in each education session, private messaging capabilities, and networking events that will allow you to interact with navigators and industry exhibitors from across the globe.
