On the 100th Anniversary of the Commission on Cancer, Frederick Greene, MD, FACS, Past Chair of Commission on Cancer, says he is proud of the accreditation program that allows small community hospitals to have the same standards of care as larger academic centers.
The Commission on Cancer will implement synoptic operative report standards that evaluate individual operations that surgeons do for cancer patients.
Frederick Greene, MD, FACS, Past Chair, Commission on Cancer | Levine Cancer Institute, says the overarching message and mission of the Commission on Cancer accreditation program is that patients should receive the same kind of care no matter what type of institution they go to.
The Commission on Cancer accreditation program encourages the leadership team and administrators to be involved in the operation of the cancer program.
Commission on Cancer facilities are interviewed and examined every 3 years. To have a successful accreditation visit, the most important thing is that the cancer program gets everyone involved on that first year of the survey cycle.
