Technology and Innovation Committee

Mission
The mission of the Technology and Innovation Committee is to focus on the use of technology to capture data/metrics for evaluation, improve quality in navigation, and provide patient education and navigator resources.

Co-Chairs

2016 Highlights:

  • Established as a standalone committee
  • Held a networking session at AONN+’s 7th Annual Navigation & Survivorship Conference in Las Vegas to harness committee interest and hear the voice of the AONN+ members and their interest and needs around technology and patient care delivery

2017 Goals:

  • Collaborate with other committees to help with various technology needs and gaps
    • Work with the Metrics Subcommittee on building the metrics repository
    • Work with the Survivorship Subcommittee to develop online resources
  • Conduct a survey to determine technology and training priorities and share results at the 8th Annual National Conference Town Hall Meeting

We invite you to take an active role in our evergrowing organization by becoming a part of the Technology and Innovation Committee. Here is a quick summary of this exciting commitment:

Criteria:

  • Do NOT need to be an IT expert!
  • Knowledge/experience/interest using technology and/or innovation to improve patient care
  • Basic understanding and experience with social media and other online communication platforms
  • A desire to identify ideas that innovate how we support patients and measure our impact through innovative concepts and programming (either current or those not yet developed!)

Time Commitment:

  • Monthly 1-hour WebEx/conference call
  • One in-person live meeting held at the National Conference
  • Possible 1-2 hours monthly to work on committee initiatives on items that potentially include:
    • Preparation for monthly Technology/Innovation Subcommittee call
    • Developing content for sharing of information or best practices with membership via newsletter or webinars
    • National Meeting Technology/Innovation Committee activities
    • Collaborate with other subcommittees as needed

  • Clinical Navigator (any model) and Patient Navigator (any model)
  • Administrators
  • Social Workers
  • Community- and hospital-based positions
