Certification Appeal

Appeal: An appeal is a formal request for reconsideration of an adverse decision made by the Advisory Commission or its representatives related to an individual’s achievement of a certification.

An appeal must be made in writing to the Appeals Board within 30 days of receiving the adverse determination. The written appeal must include the stated appeal, the reason for the appeal (including relevant supporting materials), and appellant's email address, postal address, and a phone number at which the appellant can be reached.

Certification Registrar will acknowledge receipt of the appeal within 5 days of receipt. The acknowledgement will include a description of the appeals policy.

Special Testing Accommodations

Special Testing Accommodations

Reasonable accommodations for testing shall be provided at no cost to candidates with special medical needs covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act who submit the Special Accommodations Request Form, along with the Documentation of Disability-Related Needs. AONN+ may submit information regarding the stated disability and requested accommodation to its own expert advisers and reserves the right to provide only those reasonable accommodations as required by law.

Certification Complaint

Certification Complaint

Complaint: A formal request, other than an appeal, for resolution of an issue related to the certification program or the professional behavior of a certificant. 

A complaint shall be submitted in writing using the Complaint Submission Form to the AONN+ Certification Director within 90 days of the incident’s occurrence.  The submission must be submitted online through the AONN+ certification website.  The submission shall include sufficient objective evidence to substantiate the claims and allow for a decision to be made and the appropriate action to be taken.  Dissatisfaction based on hearsay shall not be considered as a complaint.

All AONN+ certified individuals must agree to comply with the Certificant Code of Professional Conduct as outlined below:

  • I will conduct my business and/or professional activities with honesty and integrity.
  • I will represent my certifications and qualifications honestly and provide only those services for which I am qualified to perform.
  • I will strive to maintain and improve my professional knowledge and competence through regular self-assessments and continuing education or training.
  • I will act in a manner free of bias and discrimination against clients or customers.
  • I will maintain the privacy of individuals and confidentiality of information obtained in the course of my duties unless disclosure is required by legal authority.
  • I will follow all certification policies, procedures, guidelines and requirements of AONN+.

If your address changes during the course of your application to become an Oncology Nurse Navigator–Certified Generalist, submit a change of address as soon as possible to ensure our database is accurate and you receive important communications about your application or examinations. Change of address notification should be submitted via e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. Any certificant may request additional copies of his or her certification document. Requests must be made in writing to AONN+ and may be made at any time. A fee of $15 must be included with the request.
