Sharon Gentry is Program Director, Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators (AONN+), The Lynx Group, Cranbury, NJ. She obtained her nursing bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Greensboro, respectively. She serves as a leader for the AONN+ organization, guiding and directing the organization based on agreed-upon strategic plans, goals and objectives that the organization, with administrative support from The Lynx Group, intends to achieve both short-term as well as long-term. She oversees the AONN+ Leadership Council and Local Navigation Networks. Ms Gentry travels nationally, lecturing on the navigation concept and has published numerous articles and chapters on the subject. She is on the editorial board for the Journal of Oncology Navigation & Survivorship (JONS), CONQUER: the patient voice, and The Oncology Nurse-APN/PA. She encourages national oncology navigation certification. On the local level, she serves on the board of the Trellis Hospice, participates in their Professional Advisory Committee, is an active member of the Piedmont Triad Local Navigation Network and Piedmont Triad Oncology Nursing Society.
Recently, AONN+ scholarship recipient and conference attendee Meghan Lundvall, RN, BA, OCN, shared the ways in which her clinic has “changed dramatically since [attending] the 2021 AONN+ Annual Conference.” Her inspiring story is a testament to the worthwhile generosity of the AONN+ community.

Thank you to each member who participated in the regional meeting in Phoenix this spring. My favorite part of each conference is watching the interaction among the members. The term “navigation sponges” came to mind during the open microphone question sessions.
Thank you for the tremendous response to the call for how navigators interact around tumor boards. The information progressed from those who are developing their role around this function to the very experienced member.
